Wine Chateau Monton Rotschild 1975 magnum 1.5l
Tough, rustic, tannic and hard, this is much better on the nose with its tobacco, cigar box, cedar, forest floor and spicy cassis filled aromas. With more tannin than fruit, this was not a lot of fun to taste.
Wine chateau La Conseillante 1995 , 750ml
Good nose, fairly clean and floral. Still some tannins around. Dense and firm, finished with slight bitter notes. Tasted younger than previous bottles. Oyster shells, dark fruits, and pencil shavings. Excellent depth and length, this should have years to go. Pretty good wine. Most ‘95 Bordeaux are drinking well these days.
Wine Chateau Lafite-Rothschild 1997 , 750ml
Only 26% of the crop made it into the final blend, resulting in only 15,000 cases of the 1997 Lafite-Rothschild. Readers should not ignore this wine because of the negative press surrounding the 1997 vintage. It boasts an opaque dense purple color in addition to a gorgeously sweet, expansive perfume of cedar wood, black currants, lead pencil, an...
Wine Chateau Monton Rotschild 2001 magnum 1.5l
Tasted blind at Bordeaux Index’s 10-Year On horizontal. This has another outstanding bouquet with notes of blackberry, wild hedgerow, graphite and a touch of orange peel. Great delineation and vigour, a little more generous than Lafite that overtakes after an hour in bottle. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, superb acidity, great de...
Wine Chateau Monton Rotschild 2003 magnum 1.5l
Backward, powerful, and extremely tannic, the dense purple-colored 2003 Mouton-Rothschild, a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, fashioned from yields of 28 hectoliters per hectare, with a finished alcohol of 12.9%, improves dramatically with aeration. With full-bodied, meaty, powerful, dry flavor...
Wine Chateau Monton Rotschild 2002 magnum 1.5l
Dense purple to the rim, this wine exhibits the classic cassis aroma that is so characteristic of Mouton. Medium to full-bodied, tannic, powerful, and cut somewhat from the 1988 mold, this is a backward, chewy, well-endowed Mouton-Rothschild that will require considerable patience from those who purchase it. A blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12...
Wine Chateau Monton Rotschild 2004 magnum 1.5l
I can’t say much for the painting by Prince Charles on the label, but what’s in the bottle is a powerful, classic, dense ruby/purple-hued Mouton with a full-bodied style, brutal tannin, impressive concentration, and a primordial backwardness that will require 10-15 years of cellaring. Built along the lines of a modern day 1966 or 1988, the 2004 ...
Wine Chateau Monton Rotschild 1997 magnum 1.5l
Only 55% of the harvest was utilized for the 1997 Mouton-Rothschild. One of the most forward and developed Moutons over recent years, it possesses all the charm and fleshiness this vintage can provide. A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, the wine exhibits a dense ruby/purple color, and an open-k...
